Dayton's '60s Soul Revue!

Do you like good music? Well, there's nothing finer than that sweet soul music of the 1960s and '70s. Music by classic artists like the Temptations, the Four Tops, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye. Music that's guaranteed to fill the dance floor and turn any gathering into a party.

The Soul Express specializes in this dynamic musical style, providing today's audience with the raw excitement of a '60s "soul revue."

The members of Soul Express are all veteran entertainers with years of performing experience in the Dayton, Ohio, area and beyond.

Band Members:

Tom Beyerlein - Bass & Vocals

Tom "Thump" Beyerlein provides the heartbeat of Soul Express with his thumpin' Fender Precision Bass. Along with Chris Demmons, Tom is one of the band's principal lead singers. Like the other guys in the band, Tom is a longtime veteran of the area's music scene and grew up loving that sweet soul music in the '60s.

Chris Demmons - Keyboards & Vocals

Chris Demmons (lead vocals and keyboards) has performed with soul, R&B and blues bands for years. In the great soul tradition, Demmons is steeped in the music of the church, and is a church organist to this day.
LaVon Ferguson -Guitar & Vocals
LaVon "J.R." Ferguson was the founding lead guitarist for the popular Dayton rock group The Time Machine and has played with a variety of successful bands over the years. His fiery lead playing has earned him the nickname "Jammin' J.R.!"
Dave McAfee - Drums
Drummer Dave McAfee is the pulse of Soul Express, driving the band with his exciting percussive style. Dave and soul music go way back -- he was the drummer for the 1960s Dayton soul band The Royals, which played these now-classic tunes when they were first racing up the charts.

Ken McCall - Sax & Vocals

Saxophonist Ken McCall was a professional musician in Los Angeles for a dozen years before coming home to the Dayton area. The multi-talented Ken plays sax, flute and guitar with Soul Express and sings both lead and backup vocals.
